Although the marriage of Robert Burns and Jean Armour was officially registered on 05 AUG 1788, the parish records describe them as having been “irregularly married some years ago.” Some of their children were illegitimate having been born prior to their marriage. Their last child is said to have been born on the day of Robert Burns's funeral.
