Although the Mayflower Society has claimed that the parents of Josiah Morrell are Abraham and Elizabeth (Lewis) Morrell (See MF5G (2000) 11:3:143-144), a profile of Josiah in the History of Litchfield published for its centennial celebrations in 1895 says Josiah's father was Josiah Morrell who died in 1832 at the age of 95. Josiah Sr.'s grave can be found in the Smith-Baker Cemetery. Also, the Berwick, Maine, marriage record for Josiah Morrell and Sarah Quint lists Josiah as "Junr." The Mayflower Society's publication states that Abraham Morrell's will did not include a son Josiah.
