  • Many sources state that this John Rockwell of Stamford, Connecticut is the same as the John Rockwell baptized on 22 July 1621 in Fitzhead, Somersetshire, England. Robert Charles Anderson, in his The Great Migration: Immigrants to New England 1634-1635, Vol. 6, R-S, page 71, states that this cannot be the case as the wills of both parents of the Fitzhead John Rockwell only named daughters Mary and Hannah and son Simon, and the will of Simon named only sisters Mary and Hannah. So John Rockwell of Fitzhead cannot be John Rockwell of Stamford.
