  • Joseph Vial had his residence, hotel, post-office and mail station in Western Springs and Flagg Creek. The building was a log building sixteen feet square. This hostelry also served as a stop for stages. It was located in the southeast quarter of Section 18, Township 38 north, Range 12 east, and it fronted on Plainfield Road.
