    • Notes:
    • Many sources incorrectly state that the parents of the Sarah Child who married Jedidiah Morse were Benjamin Child and Patience Thayer.

However as early as 1914, Lyman May Paine got it right in his book My Ancestors: A Memorial of John Paine and Mary Ann May of East Woodstock, Conn. Sarah Child was the 2nd great-grandmother of Lyman. Lyman correctly stated that the parents of Sarah Child, wife of Jedidiah Morse, were in fact John Chiild and Abigail Aspinwall.

In October 2005, Christopher Callender Child wrote an article in the October 2005 New England Historic and Genealogical Register (pp. 317-318) that gave the proof of this parentage. Although her father John Child died intestate, an estate document gave the names of all his children and his daughters' husbands. Included in this list were Jedidiah and Sarah Morse thus proving that Lyman Paine had it right all along.
