John Brown died from illness while serving in the army during the American Revolution. He was reportedly buried near where he died a few miles north of New York City. A marble monument in the Canton Center Cemetery in Canton, Connecticut, was erected in his honor at his wife's grave.
Some published sources appear to skip a generation and give John Brown's parents as John Brown and Elizabeth Loomis. They are his grandparents and not his parents.
