  • An article in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register (1900, Vol. 54, p.49) states that Timothy Munger had three wives, Mabel Stevens, Rebecca Evarts, and Loraine Murray. His marriage to Rebecca Evarts is said to have occurred on 28 AUG 1765, just 4 months prior to the birth of his daughter Rebecca. This appears to be incorrect as Timothy's wife Mabel Stevens did not die until 1815. The inscription on her tombstone is said to read “Mabel Stevens, wife of Capt. Timothy Munger, died June 14, 1815, aged 76.” This would appear to confirm that Mabel Stevens was the mother of all of Timothy Mungers children and that he could not have been the Timothy Munger who married Rebecca Evarts.
