Some published sources have identified Sarah's maiden name as Denison. However, no evidence has ever been presented to support her name as Denison, and more recent research points to her being the daughter of Jacob and Margery Eliot.
It has also been suggested that Sarah married William Harris, Jr. due to some interaction between the sons of Jacob Eliot (Sarah's probable father) and William Harris. However, the stronger case seems to support that Sarah's husband was actually James Harris and not William Harris.
