    • In 1892, the Maryland Medical Journal (Vol. 28, No. 4, pp. 69-74) published an article about Dr. Partridge. A notebook he kept 170 years earlier, and in the possession of one of his descendants, contained remedies he used that were considered strange, even by 1892 standards. One for snake bite required the use of gunpowder, while another for erysipelas require the blood from a black cat. Still another remedy called for “live millipeds.”

      The wife of Dr. Buckler Partridge may have been named Jane.
