  • Jane McBride is often said to be the daughter or sister of British Admiral John McBride. It is not possible for her to be his daughter as she was married when Admiral McBride was about 14 years old. However it is possible, although somewhat unlikely, that she is the daughter of the Admiral's father, Rev. Robert McBride, Presbyterian Minister at Ballymoney, County Antrim, Ireland. The obvious question beckons as to why she would be married at a church in Drumully, County Fermanagh, instead of at her father's church.
