- Notes:
The death of Rufus Hamilton is recorded in the Brookfield, Massachusetts, vital records and his grave can be found in the Brookfield Cemetery, died 07 NOV 1817, aged 60 years. However, there is also a death record for Rufus in the Fair Haven, Vermont, vital records that gives the same date of death and says he was buried in the Old West Street Cemetery. This later record is incorrect due and is a result of misreading the tombstone of Rufus's wife who was buried in Fair Haven. Her tombstone also gives Rufus's death date and age at which died but clearly states “who died Brookfield, Mass.”
