  • Some secondary sources give Joseph Dix's birth date as 25 JUN 1748 in Nashua, New Hampshire, but New Hampshire birth records give it as 14 JUN 1748 in Litchfield, New Hampshire.

    The parents of Joseph Dix are often claimed to be John and Rebecca (Stone) (Wellington) Dix. However, this cannot be true as they were not married until about 4 to 6 years after the birth of Joseph, and they were living in Waltham, Massachusetts and not New Hampshire at the time. Also, Rebecca's first husband did not die until 1751, also after the birth of Joseph.
