The Dalles, Or, May 16. — William Harmon, an old pioneer, died this morning from paralysis, aged 86. He was born in England, in 1804, joined the Masons in Paris in 1825. He was probably the oldest Mason in Oregon. He crossed the ocean with and set up the first locomotive engine in America. Father Harmon worked at blacksmithing in Chicago when it was only a village. He came to Oregon City in 1852, and in his shop did work on the first steamer built in the state. D. P. Thompson, the republican candidate for governor, was his helper. — Oregonian Special
