    • Some online sources claim that Sarah Hatch is the daughter of Israel Hatch and his wife (and cousin) Elizabeth Hatch. This claim does not appear to be correct.

      First, published genealogies only list 5 children for Israel and Elizabeth Hatch, they are Lydia, Israel, Elizabeth, David, and Jonathan. These are also the only children whose births can be found in the Scituate, Massachusetts, vital records. There is no birth record listed for Sarah.

      Finally, Israel Hatch mentions only two daughters in his will dated 03 JAN 1733. He mentions his daughters Lydia Rogers and Elizabeth Oakman. He does not mention Sarah Cushman.
