  • Ignace Raizenne was born Josiah Rising in Suffield, Connecticut. He was captured as a child by the French during a raid on Deerfield, Massachusetts in 1704 and renamed. He would later marry a fellow captive. In 1898, C. Alice Baker published an account of the "Two Captives."
