- Notes:
Frank Tallman was listed as a painter at Saratoga Springs, New York, in the 1870 federal census. He may have been the Benjamin F. Talman living in Portage, Wisconsin, and listed as a painter in the 1880 federal census. However, his wife Alzina was running a boarding house at 100 Broadway in Saratoga Springs in 1872. She is listed in that town's business directory as Mrs. Alzina Tallman. Was her husband dead at this time? Or had he left and gone west? Their son Charles married in Minnesota in 1869 and is found working as a painter in California in 1880. Their son James is also found in California working as a painter in 1880 and a house painter in 1910.
