  • The will of John Meigs was dated 18 FEB 1717/8, and proved 31 MAR 1718. Some published sources incorrectly give his date of death as 19 DEC 1718. This is probably a misreading of the month due to the Julian calendar in use at the time. (i.e. 12th month is February). His tombstone has the date as 19 FEB 1717/18. The dates of his will and probate support the date on the tombstone.
