Who was Herbert Hoover?
Herbert Hoover was the 31st President of the United States. He was only eight months in office when the Stock Market Crash of 1929 occurred. The Great Depression followed and eventually the unemployment rate reached about 25%. Government projects such as the building of the Hoover Dam did little to aid the problem. His strong support of prohibition, along with the negative economic environment led to his defeat in 1932 by Franklin D. Roosevelt.< /p>
