Gavin Newsom was born on October 10, 1967, in San Francisco, Newsom has emerged as a prominent figure in American politics beginning his political career in 1997 when he was appointed to the San Francisco Parking and Traffic Commission. In 2003, Newsom ran for mayor of San Francisco and won the election becoming the 42nd mayor of San Francisco.
