Who was Jeffrey Dahmer?
Jeffrey Dahmer (1960-1994) was an American serial killer, known for the brutal murder, mutilation, and cannibalization of at least 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dahmer had a troubled childhood and exhibited signs of mental illness from an early age. He was an isolated and withdrawn child who struggled to make friends and often engaged in bizarre and disturbing behavior, such as collecting animal carcasses and dissolving them in acid.
Dahmer's first murder occurred in 1978, when he picked up a hitchhiker and lured him to his home, where he drugged and strangled him. Over the next decade, Dahmer continued to lure young men to his apartment, where he would murder, and dismember them. He also engaged in necrophilia and cannibalism, often keeping body parts as trophies or souvenirs.
Dahmer's crimes were eventually discovered in 1991, when one of his intended victims managed to escape and alerted the police. He was arrested and eventually confessed to all 17 murders. Dahmer was found guilty of 15 of the murders and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He was beaten to death by a fellow inmate in 1994, while serving his sentence at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Wisconsin.
