Who was Kurt Cobain?
Kurt Cobain was a singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the frontman of the band Nirvana. He was born on February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington. Cobain started playing guitar at a young age and began writing songs in his teens.
In 1987, Cobain formed Nirvana with bassist Krist Novoselic, and the duo began performing in the Seattle music scene. Their breakthrough album, "Nevermind," was released in 1991 and became a massive commercial success, propelled by the hit single "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
Cobain's songwriting, which often touched on themes of alienation and social commentary, earned him critical acclaim and a devoted following. However, the pressures of fame and personal struggles with addiction and mental health took a toll on him.
On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead in his home in Seattle, Washington, having died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The coroner's report estimated he had died a few days earlier on April 5. He was only 27 years old.
