Who was Bob Moore?
Robert "Bob" Moore, born on February 15, 1929, in Portland, Oregon, is the visionary co-founder of Bob's Red Mill. In 1978, Bob and his wife Charlee launched Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods in Oregon, driven by their passion for whole grains and healthy living.
Bob's journey into the world of whole grains began in the 1960s when he developed a fascination with stone milling, a traditional method of grinding grains that preserves their nutritional value. This passion laid the foundation for the creation of Bob's Red Mill, a company dedicated to producing high-quality, minimally processed whole grain products.
Under Bob's leadership, the company flourished, becoming a globally recognized brand known for its commitment to nutritious and flavorful products. Bob's Red Mill offers a diverse range of items, including flours, cereals, and baking mixes.
Bob, also known as "The Whole Grain Ambassador," was a hands-on leader and advocate for healthy eating. Even after selling the company to his employees in 2010, Bob's legacy continues to inspire health-conscious individuals worldwide. Robert "Bob" Moore passed away on February 10, 2024, leaving behind a lasting impact on the food industry and a legacy of promoting wholesome living.

Robert's name is given as Kenneth in the 1940 U. S. census.
Robert's parents were married in 1944 when he was almost 15 years of age. The marriage certificate indicates it was his mother's first marriage and his father's second. However, his parents were already living as married in the 1930 and 1940 census, and they appear as husband and wife in a 1942 Los Angeles city directory.
