Who is Buzz Aldrin?
Buzz Aldrin is a former astronaut and the second person to walk on the moon. He was a member of the Gemini 12 and Apollo 11 missions in space, and he piloted the Apollo 11 lunar module to the first manned landing on the moon. Prior to becoming an astronaut, Buzz Aldrin was a fighter pilot during the Korean War where he flew 66 combat missions and shot down two Soviet MiG-15 aircraft. In recent years, Aldrin has been an outspoken critic of NASA's objective of returning to the moon and an ardent supporter of a manned mission to Mars. In 2013 he authored a book titled “Mission to Mars” in which he outlines his plan for how we would be able to colonize Mars within the next couple of decades.
