Major-General Henry Lee III was the 9th Governor of Virginia and a cavalry officer in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. He is probably best known by the nickname he earned during the war of “Light-Horse Harry”

Henry Lee is the father of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, grandfather of Virginia Governor Fitzhugh Lee, and 2nd cousin of Maryland Governor Thomas Sim Lee.
