- Notes:
Although Lance Finlay gives Southampton, England, as his place of birth on his naturalization papers, he lists it as “at sea” in earlier records such as the 1910 census and his 1917 marriage to Emma A. Clare.
This may be the same Lance George Finlay who died in Palm Beach, Florida, in 1951. A copy of the death certificate or an obituary is needed to verify.
Lance Finlay appears to have been married before he married Eleanor (Mayer) Clare as his status is married in the 1910 census. But he should not be confused with the Lancelot Finlay who married Louise Sage and had a child named Dorothea. Louise Finley appears as a widow in the 1920 census although it is possible she was really divorced. More research is needed into Lance Finlay's first wife.
