    • The Daughters of the American Revolution have accepted membership applications stating that the parents of Nathaniel Van Noy are John Van Noy and Susan Brown. John Van Noy is said to be the son of Andrew Van Noy and Sarah Owens.

      Zelnora (Van Noy) Olsen, in her history about her father William Thomas Van Noy, states that her great-grandfather John Van Noy, father of Nathaniel Van Noy, married Elizabeth Kilby, and that John Van Noy was the son of Francis Van Noy. Francis Van Noy is said to have married a daughter of Cornelius Anderson, and was the son of John and Rachel Van Noy.

      Vital statistics from the Jessie Vannoy family bible were transcribed by the Rev. William Hamilton Eller and published in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register in 1955 (Vol. 109, pp. 74-75). Those records state that John Vannoy, whose wife was named Kilby, was the son of Nathaniel Vannoy and Elizabeth Ray. This John Vannoy is said to have had descendants living in American Forks, Utah.

      The bible records seem to be the most reliable and that is what was mainly used to determine the ancestry of Nathaniel Van Noy. Zelnora (Van Noy) Olsen's account seems to corroborate the bible records with regards to John Van Noy and Elizabeth Kilby being the ancestors of the Utah Van Noys, but beyond that is where she differs. The DAR records differ completely and more research is needed to determine why the DAR accepted the lineage.
