- Notes:
John Ferris is said to be the son of Henry and Ellen (Alison) Ferris. The Aull and Martin Genealogy (pub. 1920) makes the following statements. "Of his parentage we have no positive knowledge. We have traditional evidence that he was a son of Henry Ferris, that his mother was an Allison, and that his ancestors were residents of Connecticut, but of Irish descent." Evidence is still needed to positively identify John Ferris's parents.
